Stacked stones form a cairn in a rocky dry creek bed, surrounded by lush green foliage. The setting is calm and natural.
“Every mickle mek a muckle.”

If you’re Jamaican, you’ve most likely heard the above proverb many times. The big idea is that small things add up over time.

As a writer, this is something that I came to understand over many years of working on multiple manuscripts. It’s been a long, exciting and sometimes arduous journey to get one of those manuscripts fit for publication.

I’m happy to announce that I published my first book yesterday. It feels great. And it made me reflect on my journey so far and how patience was the true measure of progress at every stage. It’s not a cliche; the journey is what stretches you, builds you and makes you stronger.

If you’re ever feeling daunted by a major mission, try to take it in small steps. Also remember to be gentle with yourself, be grateful to those cheering you on and take a moment to celebrate the small wins.

Until next time, take care! 🌺
